Snake Eyes/Storm Shadow Origins pt 1
Jun. 5th, 2019 08:56 amGI Joe: A Real American Hero #26 (1984) - Larry Hama and Steve Leialoha
The first part of Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow’s shared origin, as narrated by Stalker.
Their comics origins are entirely different from the movies in a way that means the closest I could get to integrating it was picking up on a couple of similar themes, but it's been incredibly useful as a compare and contrast exercise. Even just in the basics of their relationship - meeting as adults and forming bonds of brotherhood through shared hardship - the comics Snake and Storm are mirror opposites of the GI Goodnight versions. But that really does help to highlight what they could have had, had circumstances been different. If they had been allowed to grow up together, if movie!Storm had been given time to work through his trauma, if movie!Snake had realized where the root of his rival's dislike of him came from, and so on.
